I am doing a study of the book of Mark, & this week I happen to be studying Passover & the betrayal of Christ. The study led me to Exodus 12, reading about the first Passover. What amazing symbolism!
They were told to take an unblemished lamb to sacrifice & they were to take the blood of the lamb & put it on their doorposts, & God's wrath would pass over them. Passover celebrates the fact that God struck the firstborn of the Egyptians that night, but spared the Israelites. They then escaped the land of Egypt.
Jesus is our unblemished lamb! His blood is THE only reason we will be spared when God judges every man. When we respond to God's pursual of us (& He is pursuing every man, whether they realize it or not - 2 Peter 3:9) by accepting in our hearts & saying that Jesus is the Son of God who died as a perfect sacrifice for our sins, we are covered by the blood of Jesus, & God no longer sees our sins but we are made righteous in his sight; we are SAVED (Romans 10:9-10). What beautiful truth!!

"Behold, your King is coming to you; righteous & having salvation is He, humble & mounted on a donkey." Zechariah 9:9 (see John 12:14-15 for fulfillment of prophecy)

These prophecies were written hundreds of years before Christ. & these are only a few of the things written about Him that came true. (see more prophecies here & lots more here.)
I just love it. I am so thankful for what Jesus did for me, for you. This is what I am celebrating this weekend of Easter.

monsters & gummies & kleenexes
Josh & I saw "Monsters vs Aliens" in 3D this weekend with my parents at the IMAX in Austin. It is a really cute & funny movie! I highly recommend it. Also see it in 3D too if you can. A few times I guarded my face because I thought I was going to get hit by something coming out of the screen! It was crazy.
Did you know there are adult gummy vitamins?? YES! I bought them at Target & they are yummy so now I can get Josh to take his vitamins! You can also buy specific gummies for calcium, Omega-3s... one of the specific kinds looked yummy, I might need to buy it... I mean, I'm sure I need more of whatever it was...
After this past week I really don't understand how there is anything left in my skull. I have blown my nose so many times I must have killer abs by now. Allergies I guess. Poo.

lots of scripture, & the weekend
Here are the scriptures we have memorized/are memorizing since last month... we are going over all of them each week so we just continue to build the amount of scripture we have memorized.
"The Lord is not slow to fulfill His promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance."
2 Peter 3:9
"Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, & he in God. So we have come to know & to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, & whoever abides in love abides in God, & God abides in him."
1 John 4:15-16 (we also memorized 17-19 previously)

This weekend we are going to Austin. It will be nice to get away & sleep in, eat a cupcake (duh), & hang out with my parents. I would like to lay out too if the weather is nice enough.
I'm glad the sun is back out! & now everything is turning green since we finally got some rain! My mom came & helped me plant some bushes in the front yard & I am quite pleased with them.

...I guess I could blog...
I got done with my work for today, with nothing else on my agenda. What a nice feeling! I haven't had much free time recently. It's cloudy out, with possible showers, so it's a nice day to stay inside.
So about our cruise. We went on a four-night cruise to Cozumel on Carnival Ecstasy. Here's a summary for you:
The boat: it was huge, & nice & clean. It had an atrium area where everything stemmed from, like the dining, the lido deck (pool), the lounges, the row of bars/clubs, etc. The rooms were small but nice. I could not get over the bathrooms. They smelled funny (not bad, just funny, prob b/c they were lined with blue plastic stuff) & the turbo toilets sounded like they were leaving for the moon when you flushed them. I was very glad to get back to our big bathroom with fairly quiet toilet! I could feel the boat moving the whole time, & had to take several Dramamine & had trouble eating the first two nights. Until about 2 days ago I still felt like I was swaying/dizzy/disoriented. But it's over now, YAY.
The food: yum. We didn't stuff ourselves, but we did have desserts every night! They have really upscale food. I loved the lobster, & Josh one night got braised short ribs that were amazing. Most of the menu changes every night so you have different things to choose from.
The days on the boat: the first day we just laid out on the boat & hung out. Even tho it was in the 40's & rainy when we left Galveston, it was sunny & warm that next morning in the gulf. The second (& last) day on the boat, we slept in, played putt-putt with new SA friends from our dining table, went to the Newlywed Show (live version with people on the boat), etc. We did not participate in most of the night activities b/c some were raunchy. We did go to one (clean) comedy show & a song & dance show.
The day at Cozumel: we went to a beach park & laid out, hung out in the ocean (BEAUTIFUL water), went on the paddle boats, laid in hammocks, ate, you get the idea. Then we did some shopping (just for a couple souvenirs) before the boat left. It was really pretty there. But we're not huge beach people so it was okay that we didn't spend more time there.
The overall experience: we enjoyed ourselves, & we were glad we got to go on a cruise together (he had been before but I hadn't) but we probably won't go on another one. We just prefer a different type of vacation, more like our honeymoon, where we stay in a really nice room that we can hang out in, towns we can explore, etc. We also didn't feel like it was an "us" vacation because you're pretty much with people all the time, & at dinner you are talking to the people at your table, which obviously isn't bad, we made friends, but it's not a time you spend together. But it was good to get away from work & the daily grind, enjoy some pretty ocean views, & relax a bit.

You know how sometimes you see a lone guy at the grocery store walking out with some unhealthy food like hot dogs, & a 12-pack of beer?
Josh is at the Spurs game tonight (for free, without me, I'm jealous), so this was me tonight at the grocery store: walking out with an individual piece of (vanilla, yum) cake & a 12-pack of Frescas.
I got a kick out of it.
