Week 23

Fruit/Veggie
Large mango (weight not length)

Size
Over 11 inches head to foot, & over 1 pound

Baby Changes (Source: BabyCenter.com.)
Blood vessels in his lungs are developing to prepare for breathing, and the sounds that your baby's increasingly keen ears pick up are preparing him for entry into the outside world. Loud noises that become familiar now — such as your dog barking or the roar of the vacuum cleaner — probably won't faze him when he hears them outside the womb.

Best Moment this Week
This weekend was our anniversary! We didn't really get to celebrate on the day of, because I was in a wedding for my friend Lindsey (which was beautiful!), but the first song that they played at the reception was our wedding song, so we got to dance to it which was special. :) We get to go out to dinner tomorrow night as a belated anniversary dinner.

Gender
BOY! Jack Wesley.

Movement
I'm feeling more movement now as he continues to get bigger & take up more space (I think we had a big growth spurt over the past two weeks) but he's still pretty chill & so far doesn't seem as strong or forceful as Elliot was.

Food Craving
Hmm, can't think of any from this past week...

Sleep
Sleeping is starting to get less comfortable, which is a bummer.

What I am looking forward to
Honestly... I'm looking forward to when Jack is a couple of months old. I have a feeling some moms will agree... we have some transitions to get through before then, & none of them sound very fun! I am looking forward to being settled in as a family of four, & getting back to normal (non-pregnant) life!

Symptoms
Fatigue, back pain, cramping (I didn't know that after your first pregnancy, ligament pains can be much worse - I went in to the midwives for the cramping which turned out to be normal, but was part of that growth spurt I mentioned earlier)

Week 22

Fruit/Veggie
Spaghetti Squash

Size
11 inches head to foot, & almost one pound

Baby Changes (Source: BabyCenter.com.)
Your baby is starting to look like a miniature newborn, & he's developing tiny tooth buds beneath his gums.

Best Moment this Week
We had a good family date night last week. We went to a local burger place & ate outside, where Elliot got lots of attention, then went to a new bakery in town & had some cupcakes & coffee/tea. It was a good evening out. :)

Gender
BOY! Jack Wesley.

Movement
Still the same... I only feel him a few times a day. It's like he sleeps alllll day & just kicks around a bit when he is readjusting to a new sleeping position.

Food Craving
I forgot to mention last week that recently, I have been craving mochas. So weird, since I have never liked mochas before - I never wanted the chocolate flavor in my coffee. Now it's just about the only kind of coffee I want! Weird.

Sleep
I'm still sleeping pretty hard - I fall asleep pretty quickly & it's really hard to wake up in the morning. My back hurts after even a mere 15 minutes in bed, but it starts to feel better after being up for a bit.

What I am looking forward to
Umm.. same thing I said last week! I mean I don't want to sound like a bummer, but there's not much going on these days!

Symptoms
Back pain, & some things that won't end up on here. :)

Transitioning

This week, we moved Elliot out of his high chair to the table. He loves it! He has been able to climb into chairs for maybe 6 weeks, & he loves sitting at the table with us. So it was an easy transition. I'm especially thankful that my little man is very orderly & hates (like, despises) being dirty. So he keeps all of his food on the plate, & the plate on the mat. Yes, I'm a lucky one with that!

(Yesterday, there was a big puddle in the front since it has been raining. Elliot, ignoring my warnings, stepped right in the puddle, & just started crying. Didn't move, just wailed as his feet got wet. Silly guy!)

I also put a small, flat pillow in his crib to start to get him used to sleeping on it. He seemed to sleep on it during his nap, & we'll see how tonight goes.

My little guy is growing up!! He'll be 2 in 5 months.... that is CRAZY. I can see how people live in denial over their baby growing up. But, he has to make way for little brother, which I think makes things much easier.

He just started fussing because he dropped yogurt on the table. It just cracks me up!

Week 21

Yikes, I'm way behind! So I'm just going to skip ahead to where I am now.

Fruit/Veggie
Carrot

Size
10 1/2 inches head to foot; 12 oz.

Baby Changes (Source: BabyCenter.com.)
Your baby's eyebrows & lids are present now.

Best Moment this Week
Josh & I went to Newport, Rhode Island for 5 days for our 5-year anniversary. It was so good to get away from the busyness of life & hang out together & do lots of relaxing. We ate some good seafood, viewed the gorgeous mansions of Newport (two built by the Vanderbilts, as well as other very wealthy families), & enjoyed our bed & breakfast. It has been tough to come back to real life! Elliot was in great hands with his Papa & Mimi & barely realized we were gone.

Gender
BOY! Jack Wesley.

Movement
Jack seems to be a much less active little guy than Elliot was! As I write these, I'm reading what I wrote with my last pregnancy, & I still only feel Jack a few times a day while at this point I was able to tell Elliot's position already. Crazy how different each pregnancy can be!

Food Craving
I definitely indulged while on vacation! Our bed & breakfast had these delicious chocolate chip macaroons available every day, & we had plenty of other treats too. I can't remember any specific cravings.

Sleep
I'm sleeping okay, minus back pain. Still avoiding the dumb pregnancy pillow, thankfully!

What I am looking forward to
Hmm, nothing in particular! We don't have anything super fun coming up, & I don't need to do much of anything in the way of planning for Jack right now, sooo... just daily life!

Symptoms
Back pain, slight nausea after eating, fingers starting to swell (had to say bye to my rings this week :( ).
